An Ode to Latarian Milton

In April of 2008, Latarian Milton just wanted to "do hood rat stuff with my friends." Acting on his wishes, Latarian (age 7) stole his grandmothers SUV, picked up his friend while smoking cigarettes, and caused thousands in damages prior to crashing into another vehicle in a parking lot. Fourteen months later, Surface athletes just wanted to do hood rat stuff with our team, and embarked on a mission to capture video and photos in Mt. Hood, OR. Two of those photos ended up being used as Causwell ads on Newschoolers (pictured above), and others for my profile on Surfaceskis.com. With productivity being at an all time high and unemployment being at an all time low (in the last 20 years), I decided to remain in Mt. Hood the majority of the summer as a coach for Windell's Camp.

The Journey is the Reward

Over the years, countless films, books, and dreams have studied both the symbolic and functional meanings of highway travel. As contingent upon the personal tastes and economic stability of each individual, the open road has come to define and conjure multiple images for various types of people. At this point in my life, the open road represents transitions and interconnected paths leading to new directions, with new agendas, and connecting one phase of my never ending travel schedule to the next. Regardless of the transitional stretch of asphalt you have decided to embrace, be strongly advised that you have complete control over where it leads you, the distance and rate at which you travel, and how many detours you take a long the way.

Today, I am departing my fall residence of Salt Lake City, UT and venturing east to the familiar and welcoming land of Colorado. New opportunities await, and I eagerly anticipate the experiences along the way.
